Honor 200 Lite launched in India: Honor’s first sub-20K phone since comeback

After a long hiatus, Honor made a comeback in India last year. This time, the company has returned as an independent brand. It’s now called Honor Tech. It’s no more associated with Huawei, it says. And the company is trying to break out of its image of a value for money brand. The company now wants to target the pricier segments between Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000. So far, Honor has launched the Honor X9b, Honor 200, and Honor 200 Pro in India. Today, the company has announced its first sub-Rs 20,000 phone in India, the Honor 200 Lite.
The Honor 200 Lite is priced starting Rs 17,999, can be purchased at Rs 15,999 if bought via SBI debit and credit card. It will go on sale starting 12AM on September 27 across channels, while Amazon Prime members will have a 24-hours early access –– starting 12AM on September 26 –– to the device as part of the Amazon Great Indian Festival.
As with the existing Honor 200 series, the highlight of the new Lite version is its camera. It features a 108-megapixel AI portrait camera on the rear, which is coupled with a 5-megapixel wide and depth camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It has a 50-megapixel selfie camera. The highlight, as per Honor’s marketing content, remains to be the portrait camera on the phone. It sports different portrait focal lengths. Honor calls them 1x Environmental Portrait, 2x Atmospheric Portrait, and 3x Close-up Portrait.
Additionally, the Honor 200 Lite features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that offers a peak brightness of 2000 nits. Looking at the pictures of the phone, the phone seems to have slim and uniform bezels. The device also has a 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut which basically helps in delivering an ultra-wide range of colors.
The Honor 200 Lite also comes with a 3240Hz PWM dimming. Which means that the phone’s display has been certified by TœV Rheinland to offer smooth brightness transitions, reducing eye strain caused by screen flicker, and makes the viewing experience comfortable for users who prefer lower brightness or use their phone in dark settings. There is also something called the Circadian Night Display that adjusts the screen’s colour temperature to reduce blue light, helping regulate the sleep cycle.
The Honor 200 Lite runs what the company calls an Intent-Based UI, MagicOS 8.0. Powering the phone is a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor, which is coupled with 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Fuelling the phone is a 4500mAh battery with support for 35W fast charging.
