Anti-Abortion Ad Comparing Whoopi Goldberg to Nazis Aired During ‘The View’

A graphic ad comparing journalists and celebrities who support abortion rights, including Whoopi Goldberg, to Nazis was recently aired during a commercial break on The View.
The spot, aired on October 9, includes photos of 26 celebrities and journalists, including Chris Evans, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, and Rachel Maddow.
“I am so sick of stupid celebrities and lying journalists,” a voiceover says. “Why don’t you fools follow the science?” The clip then shows images of what appear to be fetuses, and says, “This is a human being, human being, human beings,” before referring to abortion as murder.
It goes on to say of these celebrities, “If history even remembers you, you’ll be remembered like Leni Riefenstahl and Joseph Goebbels,” two Nazi propagandists whose images were displayed on screen.
The ad was voiced and backed by the anti-abortion activist Randall Terry, who is running for president in 2024 under the Constitution Party.
“Ignore these sleazebags. A vote for Kamala is a vote for murdered babies,” he says at the end of the clip.
Entertainment Weekly reports that before airing the ad, ABC issued a warning that read, “The following is a paid political advertisement, and the ABC Television Network is required to carry it by federal law. The advertisement contains scenes that may be disturbing to children. Viewer discretion is advised.”
According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), “Broadcast stations are prohibited from censoring or rejecting political ads that are paid for and
sponsored by legally qualified candidates.”
Following the ad’s placement, ABC’s affiliate in Chicago, ABC7, released a statement which read: “We want to take a moment to tell you about a graphic political ad you may have seen airing here on ABC7.
“The ad is for anti-abortion rights advocate and presidential candidate Randall Terry and features graphic images of aborted fetuses.
“By law, WLS-TV must air the ad.”
It added that, “Terry will be on the ballot in at least 12 states so has met the criteria to be considered a legally qualified candidate.”
Newsweek has contacted both ABC and the FCC outside of work hours via email for comment.
Terry is running on an almost exclusively anti-abortion platform in Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wisconsin, the states where he is on the ballot.
His running mate is Pastor Stephen E. Broden. Broden describes himself as advocating for “a return to Constitutional principles in government and a respect for the Judeo-Christian values underlying the founding of our nation.”
Goldberg has previously used her platform on The View to speak out in favor of abortion rights. Per CNN, she gave an impassioned speech on the show about a woman’s right to choose when Roe vs. Wade was overturned in 2022.
Kamala Harris recently appeared on The View as a guest, where she discussed her plans for Medicare expansion.
